Job Description

Position description: 

The Material Handling Clerk at Honolulu Fish Company is a competent individual responsible for packing, stocking, picking and meeting food safe and general sanitation and product handling procedures within operations.  This individual will operate a variety of equipment to perform their jobs and could be performing a variety of tasks during the course of their work day.

Essential duties: 

  • Package fish for storage or order fulfillment, putaway, take inventory, stage and pack orders via paper and electronic systems.
  • Handling of all product without damage and storing in conditions as directed
  • Updating inventory records via paper or electronic systems
  • Consistently practicing food safe handling procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Current driver’s license
  • Basic Mathematical and Reading/Comprehension skills  
  • Able to communicate and respond to verbal and written communications and inquiries
  • Comfortable working with modern productivity tools and technology
  • Consistently completes tasks as assigned with little or no supervision.

Physical and Environmental job requirements:

  • Active driver’s license
  • Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levels
  • Operate variety of material handling equipment including forklift operations and other bulk moving equipment
  • Uses a variety of cleaning chemicals to sanitize and sterilize equipment and facilities
  • The plant environment may be wet, cold, noisy, and open to interior temperature changes
